Selection and Evaluation of Candidates

In PPS "Adolescent Medicine-Adolescent Health Care", graduates of Greek Universities or recognized equivalent Institutions abroad are accepted.

The categories of candidates who can be accepted to attend the PPS are:

Graduates of the Schools of Faculty of Health Sciences, graduates of the University Schools of Philosophy, Faculty of Sciences, Pedagogy, Physical Education and Sports of the country, as well as graduates of similar institutions in the country or abroad in a relevant subject.

The graduates of the 1st cycle of studies of the Schools of Faculty of Health Sciences as well as the graduates of the same university institutions of the country or abroad, of a related subject, follow the 1st or 2nd specialization of studies which provides postgraduate training in "Adolescent Medicine".

The graduates of the University Schools of Philosophy, faculty of Sciences, Pedagogy, Physical Education and Sports of the country, as well as graduates of the same university institutions of the country or abroad of a related subject follow the 2nd specialization of studies which provides postgraduate education "Psychosocial and Pedagogical Care of Adolescents".

The number of admissions per year is set at a maximum of thirty-five (35) postgraduate students.

In mid-December every year, the announcement of candidacy positions is published and candidates are invited to submit their applications.

The applications accompanied by the necessary supporting documents are submitted to the Secretariat of the PPS either in paper or electronic form. The candidate submits the following supporting documents:

  • Application form
  • Statement of purpose of monitoring the PPS (Statement of purpose)
  • Copy of degree or degrees from Greek Universities and/or universities abroad
  • Certificate of knowledge of the English language, level at least B2 ("good knowledge"). In the case that English is not the candidate's native language, it is certified either by a degree from a corresponding foreign language university department or by possession of at least recognized B2 proficiency diplomas. The level of foreign language knowledge is proven by the following ways: a) State Certificate of law 2740/1999 as replaced by par. 19 of article 13 of law 3149/2003, b) With a degree in Foreign Language and Philology or a Degree of Foreign Languages Translation and Interpreting of the country or equivalent and equivalent schools abroad, c) With a Bachelor's degree, undergraduate or postgraduate diploma or a doctoral degree of any recognized institution of higher education abroad, d) With a Baccalaureate title equivalent to the Greek Secondary Education schools, if they have been obtained after at least six years of normal study abroad. The foreign language teaching proficiency license does not prove knowledge of a foreign language (PD 347/2003). Applicants who hold the relevant license must provide a certified copy and exact translation of the degree on the basis of which the foreign language teaching proficiency license was issued.
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation. The number and type of letters of recommendation (from faculty members, employers) will be determined by a decision of the Coordinating Committee and its approval by the Assembly of the relevant Department, all of the above will be mentioned in the announcement.
  • Curriculum vitae (CV), detailing the candidate's studies, research and professional experience, scientific activity and any publications.
  • Photocopy of both sides of the police ID / passport.

The selection of the candidates will be made by evaluation of the folder of supporting documents and an interview by the three-member Admissions Selection Committee. The selection criteria of the candidates and their relative significance are:

  • The degree of diploma (10%)
  • Adequate knowledge of the English language at B2 level (10%)
  • The two letters of recommendation (5%)
  • The interview with SE members (50%)
  • Previous professional experience (duration and type) (5%)
  • Research experience (10%)
  • Publications and writing (announcements-publications in Greek and international conferences and journals) activity (10%)
